When planning a hair transplant, most patients are told a number of grafts.
But here’s what many don’t realise:
👉 A single graft (follicular unit) can contain anywhere from 1 to 6 or 7 hairs follicles.
So 2,000 grafts does NOT automatically mean 2,000 hairs or 5000-6000 hairs.
Depending on your natural follicular grouping, 2,000 grafts could mean:
• 3,500 hairs
• 4,000 hairs
• Even more
Equally, being told that you’re having 3000 grafts placed, can mean 3000 hair follicles, if that’s 3000 x 1 hair follicles. So, obviously it’s in your interest to know how many hairs / hair follicles exactly are being placed and not just the number of grafts.
